African Spiritualities

An exploration of African spiritualities that examines: pre-colonial African spiritualities amongst various African nations and ethnic groups; the roles of European colonization and slavery in altering and disseminating African spiritual traditions throughout the Americas and Caribbean via the transatlantic slave trade; and an examination of contemporary African spiritual traditions of various ethnic groups of the African continent and diaspora including the reclamation of pre-colonial African spiritual traditions as a form of resistance to legacies of European colonialism and historical oppression and trauma.
